ABA Travel

When you travel with the ABA, you help build a better future for birds and birding. The ABA offers a carefully designed program of birding travel experiences that not only let experience and thrill of seeing great birds and traveling with friendly, interesting people, they give you the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting local on-the-ground conservation efforts as well as the ABA’s ongoing work to inspire all people to enjoy and protect wild birds. Events at our Delaware Headquarters

Weekly Heron Watches: every Thursday night, April through July, join the ABA birding host and take in the gathering dusk together on the Delaware City Waterfront. Each night hundreds of herons (Great Blues, Little Blues, egrets, and others) pass right by and over town.

Sunset Cruises to Pea Patch Island: These relaxing, scenic cruises offer a great chance to gain a new appreciation for the wealth of birds and other wildlife that inhabit Pea Patch Island and the surrounding Delaware River. There are often excellent opportunities to view Bald Eagles and Osprey.

Ecuador Birding Bash 2020

July 17—26, 2020

The ABA Ecuador Birding Bash has something for everyone! Birding, photography, sight-seeing, and extensions, extensions, extensions. Individual groups will be no more than 8 participants, but multiple groups will be staying each night in the same hotels and lodges so that they can mingle and reminisce over the day’s superb birding.

Hawaii Rally 2019

October 16-25, 2019

We will visit three islands—Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island, Hawaii. Our itineraries will give us very good to excellent chances to see an excellent selection of Hawaii’s native birdlife. Having Hawaii Forest and Trail as our outfitters, we’ll have wonderful access to some seldom-birded sites, on both public and private lands.

IFO: Winter Sparrows of the Southwest

January 23—28, 2020

Southeastern Arizona is home to many resident species of breeding sparrows and a favored location for migrants to overwinter. We will visit semi-desert grasslands and riparian woodlands to observe and photograph over 20 species of sparrows, towhees, and longspurs. Daily outings will be followed by classroom presentations on identification, vocalizations, ecology, natural history, and conservation.

West Virginia Adult Bird Camp

For the ABA’s first-ever Adult Birding Camp, we have chosen to visit longtime friends of ours in the New River Gorge region of West Virginia. The cabins are homey. The food is home cooked. The feeling is fun.
