It was a super trip. We got the Emperor Penguins on my birthday, so they were a Birthday Lifer!
But on the other hand they were my fourth lifer of the day, so maybe that wasn’t such a big deal. Hmm.
But seriously, 29 lifers ain’t bad. Not to mention all the other wildlife. And the scenery.
Thank you so much to Katinka and Ted for sharing their experiences. I just returned from a very similar trip to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica and so much of what Katinka and Ted described is exactly what I experienced. I was fortunate to sea lots of Emperor Penguins in the morning from zodiacs, at a place called Snow Hill, on the Weddell Sea. We were very close (perhaps 100 feet) but at the same level as the penguins. It was amazing!
