What is that?!

As a deep aside, I once saw online a name for that combination of question mark and exclamation point, and it works for me: “interobang.” I think of that name nearly every time I use it, and I use it only in this situation: A question, but with a strong mental or vocal emphasis on the verb, and to be used in cases of extreme confusion.

Birders who do not frequently bird water bodies in mid-summer may not know this plumage. However, the taxonomic family housing the quiz bird (many members of which species sport a plumage at least something like this) is widespread, both in the world and in the ABA Area.
