Delaware City, Delaware – After a thorough search, the American Birding Association is thrilled to announce that Nikki Belmonte will be the new Executive Director of the ABA.

Nikki Belmonte is the new Executive Director of the American Birding Association!

Nikki lives in Roswell, Georgia, where she has worked for the last two years as the city’s Environmental Education Coordinator and the Executive Director of Keep Roswell Beautiful, an environmental stewardship nonprofit. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of Atlanta Audubon Society (now Georgia Audubon) for nine years, overseeing a period of unprecedented growth for the organization during which she tripled revenue, expanded the staff from two part-time contractors to nine employees, executed two strategic plans, and built a robust network of partnerships.

Nikki brings tremendous experience, energy, and credentials to the ABA. She has a master’s degree in environmental education from Antioch University New England and a bachelor’s degree in wildlife conservation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Nikki values environmental literacy, accessibility, inclusivity, inspiring a conservation ethic, and making sure every birder feels empowered to enjoy and protect wild birds.

Nikki has been a birder since childhood and has run her local Christmas Bird Count for six years. Her vision for the ABA includes growth, increased visibility, expanding existing programs and resources for members, building coalitions, and, most of all, inspiring the next generation of birders and bird conservationists, so that birds and the ABA can thrive now and in the future.
