Hi! My name is Michelle Hamilton, and I am a 15-year-old homeschooler, and thrilled to be one of the Eyrie’s new Featured Bloggers. I live in a good-sized city in Georgia, so I see a lot of the city birds such as House Sparrows, Mourning Doves, and American Robins. I have always loved birds, but I didn’t really get serious about birding until a few years ago. My favorite kind of bird is the Eastern Bluebird (a pair nests in my yard every year). I love watching the chicks grow up, and even after they leave the nest they stick around practicing their shaky flight skills. It’s so funny to watch them chasing each other around the trees.
Another of my favorite things is sitting on the front porch, trying to photograph the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds as they dart around the feeder. I have been trying to get them to eat out of my hand, but so far I have had no luck!
I love photography, and photographing birds is even better! I have hundreds of pictures of bluebirds, from babies, to juveniles, to adults. I have lots of pictures of hummingbirds sitting, but not too many in flight! I am still trying to get a picture of a Red-tailed Hawk in flight, even though I have some of it perched, and countless photos of other birds!
Birds are a big part of my life, and I am so honored to be chosen as one of The Eyrie’s first Featured Bloggers!
