Japan Winter Birding: Cranes, Owls & Eagles of Hokkaido
January 28 – February 8, 2027
Join the ABA for a 12-day winter birding journey to Japan, centered on the spectacular wildlife of Hokkaido — Japan's northernmost and wildest island. Mid-winter transforms Hokkaido into one of the most dramatic birding destinations on Earth: volcanic crater lakes steam against snow-covered peaks, pack ice pushes in along the Shiretoko coast, and thousands of cranes gather on frozen river floodplains at dawn.
Greece Spring Birding: Athens & the Greek Mainland
March 28 – April 7, 2027
Join the ABA for an 11-day spring birding journey through Greece, timed to coincide with peak spring migration — one of the most spectacular ornithological events in the Mediterranean. Greece lies at a pivotal crossroads of the African-Eurasian Flyway, and late March through early April brings a continuous stream of trans-Saharan migrants arriving from Africa alongside breeding residents already in full display.
Southern Peru Birding: Abra Málaga & Manu National Park
June 21 – July 4, 2027
Join the ABA's birding tour to southern Peru for a 14-day journey across the mighty Andes and through one of the most biodiverse stretches of habitat on Earth. Peru ranks second globally in bird diversity, with more than 1,900 recorded species — and this tour is designed to encounter as wide a cross-section of that diversity as possible, from high Andean endemics to deep-Amazon specialties.
Chile Birding: Deserts, Wetlands & Rainforest

Join the ABA's birding tour to Chile for a comprehensive 13-day journey through the country's most spectacular and biologically diverse regions, from the arid Atacama Desert of the far north to the temperate rainforests and wetlands of the southern Lake District.
Southeast Arizona: Sparrows of the Grasslands and Sky Islands
November 1 – 7, 2027
Join the ABA for a week devoted to one of the most rewarding and most underestimated groups of birds in North America. This is a workshop as much as a tour: seven days spent learning how to identify sparrows, towhees, and longspurs by structure, plumage, and voice, how to read the habitats that hold them, and what those habitats need in order to keep holding them in the future.
Minnesota: Winter in Sax-Zim Bog
