I am a 15-year-old homeschooled young birder from McPherson, Kansas. I have been an avid birder for seven years, and my favorite groups of birds are shorebirds, sparrows, gulls, and flycatchers. I have been drawing birds for about the same length of time, and this year I have taken up Conte´ and acrylic, now two of my favorite mediums. I have been photographing birds for five years and I especially like photographing birds in flight. I enjoy writing about birding, bird conservation, birding trips, and identification, and I am always trying to become a better writer.

I bird as often as I can, and I love to spend time sketching and taking notes on the birds I observe. Some of my other interests (always with birding incorporated into them) include: hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and studying trees, insects, and mammals.

I have competed in the American Birding Association’s Young Birder of the Year Contest for three years, placing in several modules. I have also received 2nd place and Honorable Mention in the Kansas Junior Duck Stamp Contest.

I would like to see The Eyrie bring young birders together and interact with each other. I would also like to see more posts such as photo quizzes or articles on identification and bird behavior at The Eyrie.
