Southwest Wings Birding and Nature Festival is Arizona’s oldest birding festival. Since 1991 we’ve been offering small group trips. The 2024 Spring Fling will run from Wednesday May 1 to Saturday May 4, 2024 with a welcome pre-festival Jamboree on Tuesday April 30. It consists of mainly Group Van Field Trips to more distant and less accessible locations with a small number of small car-caravan style guided field trips in participants’ own vehicles to more local spots.

Arizona specialties include: Montezuma Quail, Gray and Zone-tailed Hawks, Lucifer, Violet-crowned and White-eared Hummingbirds, Elf Owl, Buff-collared Nightjar, Elegant Trogon, Arizona Woodpecker, Rose-throated Becard, Northern Beardless Tyrannulet, Buff-breasted Flycatcher, Thick-billed Kingbird, Mexican Chickadee, Olive, Lucy’s, Grace’s and Red-faced Warblers, Painted Redstart, and Botteri’s, Cassin’s and Five-striped Sparrows.
