Camp Newaygo is celebrating a major milestone: the reopening of its historic Wetland Trail, plus the launch of the Hidden Lake Environmental Center, a new year-round environmental education initiative.
The day includes two parts. From 9:00 AM–4:00 PM, join a free day of speakers and learning (advance registration required, deadline October 18), including birders Will Keller (“The Love of Birds, Versus a Love of Birding”) and renowned author/illustrator David Allen Sibley (“The Psychology of Bird Identification,” with a book signing to follow). Breakfast and lunch included.
At 4:00 PM, the celebration opens to the public with a ribbon cutting for the newly rebuilt Wetland Trail boardwalk, a bog/wetland habitat that’s been a birding destination for generations. This part is free, open to everyone, and needs no registration. Inaugural trail walks follow from 4:15–5:00 PM.
