Estate and Legacy Gifts
HELP SUPPORT THE FUTURE OF THE AMERICAN BIRDING ASSOCIATION
Simple bequests of any size are some of the greatest, most everlasting gifts of all made by caring people just like you. Many birders would like to help support the long-term future of the American Birding Association but feel they can’t afford to make that kind of gift today. A bequest by will or revocable trust CAN allow you to leave a lasting footprint on the birding community while preserving access to all of your assets during your lifetime.
How It Works
- You include language in your will or trust that designates a gift of your choosing for the benefit of the ABA.
- You retain total control over your assets during your lifetime while knowing that a gift has been pre-arranged to support the long term future of ABA.
How YOU Benefit
- You know that a gift to ABA has been pre-arranged while the terms of your bequest can be modified during your lifetime.
- There is no limit on the estate tax deduction available for charitable bequests to qualified organizations.
- The assets you designate as a charitable gift will not be subject to estate tax.
How to Create an Estate Gift to Benefit ABA
1. The next time you are revising your estate plans, let your attorney know you would like to support ABA with a charitable bequest. This can be done with a new will or trust or a simple amendment to an existing will or trust document.
2. Share the sample language below language with your attorney and discuss what type of designation works best for you.
I give to the American Birding Association at 204 S 25th St. #3070, Colorado Springs, CO 80934, the sum of _______(Dollars) OR _____ percent of the residue of my estate. American Birding Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all gifts are fully deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our tax ID number is 74-2347314)
3. You designate a specific asset or a percentage of your estate by creating a will or trust or by a simple amendment document. ABA can be either a primary or a contingent beneficiary.
4. Consider notifying us of your revocable gift intention so that we may thank you for your generous support!
