Camp Colorado

Estes Park, Colorado
July 15—22, 2023

Open to all birders ages 13 to 17
Membership in the ABA is required for attendance.

CAMP FEE: $1,795.00
Includes all lodging, meals, instructional sessions, transportation during camp events, and transportation to and from Denver International Airport. Base camp is located at The YMCA of the Rockies.

An amazing diversity of ecosystems lies within a few hours of Estes Park, giving campers the chance to experience many of Colorado’s varied life zones and birds. Over the course of this eight-day experience, campers will take their birding and field skills to the next level, meet other young birders with similar interests, and of course, immerse themselves the bird life and natural history of Colorado.

This camp session is FULL. Please sign up for the waitlist to be considered for any cancelled spots.

Expert staff from the ABA and skilled guest instructors will lead field trips in search of species such as White-tailed Ptarmigan, Clark’s Nutcracker, MacGillivray’s Warbler, Brown-capped Rosy Finch, Williamson’s Sapsucker, Burrowing Owl, Thick-billed Longspur, and Cassin’s Sparrow, to name just a few. Afternoons and evenings we’ll have hands-on workshops to learn about sketching and painting, field journaling, photography, careers in bird conservation, and much more.

Scholarships for all camps are available! The American Birding Association, through the generous support of our sponsors and ABA members, provides need-based scholarships to help young people attend our summer camps. To apply, please visit ABA Young Birder Scholarships.
