Birding, the ABA’s 54-year-old flagship publication has evolved from a five-page mimeographed newsletter to a full-color, award-winning magazine, published eight times annually. Birding’s editorial team, headed by Ted Floyd, Frank Izaguirre, and Michael Retter, plans each issue far in advance. With the help of expert department editors and technical reviewers, the team refines content that is authoritative, relevant and fun.

Each issue of Birding features broad coverage of various aspects of bird identification, bird biology, and birding culture, often with a seasonal or otherwise unifying thematic concept. The magazine also presents expert media reviews and keeps readers on their toes with its photo quiz.
