Winging It Classified Advertising PolicyIncome from paid advertising defrays a significant portion of the costs of producing and mailing Winging It. And we are happy that Winging It ads help so many businesses find customers, and help so many members find the birding-related services they need. The newsletter's editor and the ABA financial staff strive to provide prompt, accurate, and individualized service for our valued advertisers. In planning your advertising, remember that Winging It is published on a bimonthly schedule, with issues mailed in early February, April, June, August, October, and December; members should receive the newsletter about a week later. Winging It accepts ads from current members of the American Birding Association only. When placing an ad, please include the member's name, contact information, and membership number. All ads run on a space-available basis; acceptance, publication, and editing of ads is at the discretion of the editor. Please limit your ad (including the headline) to 10 lines of approximately 30 characters each (approximately 50 words total). Current members of the American Birding Association may submit non-business ads (such as for a one-time sale of used books or optics) at no charge for a maximum of two issues per ad. Business ads submitted by for-profit businesses cost $50 per insertion (ads placed by a registered non-profit corporation qualify for a special rate of $25). We are happy to accept ads to run "until further notice," provided that they are submitted along with a valid credit card number; for ads submitted to run for a limited time, we can accept orders extending up to one calendar year from the issue of their first appearance. Our experience has been that ads inserted over a number of issues are far more effective than single insertions. To encourage new advertisers, we offer an introductory rate of $40 per insertion for ads from new advertisers to run in three or more consecutive issues. Ads can be submitted to the Colorado Springs office by mail, email, or fax. Business-related ads must be accompanied by a check or credit card information for payment (we accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover). Ad space fills quickly, so get your copy and payment in early. The deadline for each issue is the 10th of the month preceding publication. And we encourage the readers of Winging It to use our classified ad pages as the most effective way to let serious birders know about travel opportunities, books, optics, equipment, and other birding-related goods and services. |
