08.17.09 ABA Back from Southwest Wings Festival
ABA had a good time at the Southwest Wings Festival in Sierra Vista, AZ. We enjoyed meeting with everyone and we extend a welcome to all of our new members from this event.

08.03.09 ABA Meets $3000 Challenge Grant
ABA will receive $3000 from its Board of Directors for meeting the challenge of reaching 3000 GoodSearch searches in July. We thank everyone who helped us achieve this goal. The donation will be used to help launch a series of initiatives that will be announced in the September issue of Birding.

07.30.09 North American Birds archived at SORA
ABA is pleased to announce the completion of a major milestone. After years of effort, all issues of the quarterly journal, North American Birds, dating back to 1973, are now digitally preserved in the Searchable Ornithological Research Archive. They can be accessed at the following URL: http://elibrary.unm.edu/sora/NAB/. Now that the first stage of archiving is finished, we will be looking into scanning issues going back to 1947, Volume 1, Issue 1.

07.02.09 ABA Board of Directors Announces Challenge Grant
The ABA Board of Directors has announced that during the month of July, they will match the first 3000 searches on GoodSearch with a donation of 1-dollar per search. In this atmosphere of giving that ABA members and friends have established, the 14-member Board of Directors is stepping up to the plate with a generous donation to help launch a series of initiatives that President & CEO Rob Robinson has proposed. 06.08.09 ABA Sales partners with Eagle Optics and Buteo Books
To continue bringing you the best in birding optics and books, ABA Sales has teamed up with industry leaders Eagle Optics and Buteo Books. A percentage of all sales will go toward supporting ABA programs and initiatives. Thanksgiving Coffee Company will continue to distribute ABA's shade-grown coffee brand Song Bird Coffee. ABA President & CEO Rob Robinson is excited about this new collaborative direction for ABA Sales and reports that the ABA's renowned conservation program, Birders' Exchange, will be the preferred charity of Eagle Optics.

05.28.09 American Birding Association joins forces with the Wildlife Habitat Council
Rob Robinson, President & CEO of the American Birding Association (ABA) and Robert Johnson, President of the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) are pleased to announce ABA as the newest conservation partner of the Wildlife Habitat Council. WHC created in 1988, is a nonprofit, nonlobbying group of corporations, conservation organizations and individuals dedicated to enhancing and restoring wildlife habitat.
